The CHEC provides the latest health care information not only on our campus, but also out in the community. Serving both Marion and Polk Counties, we host tables at community events and offer a variety of health education presentations.
This service is available to the community at no cost. We have a menu of presentations listed below, but if you have another subject in mind -- we are happy to partner together to identify how to best meet your needs.

Concerns about falling are a normal part of the aging process. In this presentation you will learn:
- How to identify common risk factors for falls.
- Fall prevention strategies designed to address a person’s fear of falling.
- How to increase activity levels among older adults.

Explore the Brain Agility key concepts for keeping a healthy and youthful brain. Brain Agility is a unique program of mental exercises to enhance the brain’s ability to remember, stay focused, be aware, and be alert.
A comprehensive workshop that offers the latest research on maintaining bone health along with a simple, yet effective, muscle strengthening program. This class includes:
- Information on calcium and other supplements
- Information on nutrition and exercise
- Take home illustrations of exercises

Everyone experiences stress - there is no escaping it, but maybe there is a way to develop a better relationship with it so that your reaction to stress is a positive one. In this class, participants will learn tips on how to best handle in the moment stress, and how to change your relationship with it.
Our hand washing program reminds children that infections can be fought through frequent hand washing. Children will learn how germs are spread, how to prevent the spread of disease, and how to properly wash their hands.
Know the signs of stroke so you can BEFAST if you or a loved one experiences this type of emergency. In this workshop you will learn:
