Education assistance and personal development
Salem Health has well-developed programs to help employees further their education and personal development, such as:
- Tuition reimbursement and waiver opportunities
- Certification and re-certification reimbursement for many fields
- A career path assistance program to help employees map their career
In addition, our in-house education department provides valuable classes to keep your skills current and provide ongoing development throughout the year.
Health and wellness benefits
For medical coverage, we offer a PPO (preferred provider organization), a CDHP (consumer directed health plan) and a MHP (medical home plan). Coverage is also available for spouses, domestic partners, and dependents.
- Dental: Dental insurance takes care of your smile with any provider, featuring 100 percent coverage of preventative care and available orthodontia insurance.
- Vision: Vision plan includes a wide network, discounts on additional purchases or services over the coverage limits, and discounts on laser vision correction.
- Pharmacy: Enjoy a discount at our in-house pharmacy for over-the-counter purchases, and the convenience of the pharmacy for purchasing prescriptions.
Employee wellness opportunities
We offer a robust wellness plan for employees and spouses enrolled in medical coverage called Live Well. It includes access to health risk appraisal, health coaching, online education and more. Active participation in Live Well can also earn you a discount on your insurance premiums.
We also offer discounts on classes at our Community Health Education Center, including cooking and exercise classes, reduced rates on selected local fitness events, and much more.
Short-term and long-term disability plans
We provide insurance for both short-term and long-term disability for regularly scheduled part and full-time employees. These plans offer partial income protection in the event of a serious illness or disability.
Basic and supplemental life insurance
Employer-paid basic life insurance, including accidental death and disability insurance, is provided for regularly scheduled part and full-time employees. Supplemental life insurance for you, your spouse, or dependents is also available.
Employee assistance program
A confidential counseling service is available for employees and their immediate families. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers support and information on a variety of topics, such as family or marital counseling, stress management, grieving a loss, and financial concerns.
Tender touch care
Instead of taking a day off to care for a sick child, you may be able to bring them to the hospital for affordable care while you work. There are some exceptions.
We are committed to promoting an environment of healing and nurturing, which is why Salem Health is a smoke-free workplace.
Paid time off, disability and retirement
Paid time off
Full-time employees receive 16 to 31 days a year of paid time off, depending on length of service and position, plus Oregon paid leave (sick time). In addition, employees receive six paid national holidays, an annual birthday holiday, and two personal floating holidays.
We offer a 401(k) plan with several investment options available. Employees may contribute up to IRS limits each year.
Salem Health contributes an additional amount based on length of service and amount of employee contribution.
After your first year with Salem Health, you may receive up to a 5.5 percent contribution.
